Places – Claim & optimize Yahoo Local & Bing Places profiles.
Directory – Optimize your profiles on other high traffic sites like Yelp, Foursquare, Citysearch, BBB.org, factual.com, etc. (Barnacle SEO/Leveraging other high rank sites’ rankings).
Citation – Mentions of your business name and address on other webpages—even if there is no link to your website. Yellow pages directory local chamber of commerce pages, or on a local business association page that includes your business information, even if they are not linking at all to your website.
Citations are great for building trust on Google search. Citations need to be consistent though, the content in each citation needs to have the same text. (ex: Street should be either spelled out or abbreviated in every citation listing an address.)
Reviews – There will be a big focus on Google Reviews in 2015.
Linking Ideas – Reach out to College & Universities to offer student discounts to try to get links on their sites. Even with less of a focus being on traditional backlinks EDU links are still worth their weight in gold.
